La Joya Tropical Oasis is a traditional "old Florida" style house built in 1946. In fact, our home was one of the very first to be built in our neighborhood. Over the years, La Joya has been upgraded and remodeled and now features the modern conveniences you would find in a new home. Our living space includes 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, spacious kitchen, living room, and dining room.
In Spanish, "la joya" means "the jewel." We think the name fits our little slice of paradise. Without a doubt, our biggest source of pride is the lush tropical vibe we have created in our garden (with the help of Mother Nature, of course). We work tirelessly to offer a unique experience that makes you feel as if you stumbled upon a secret garden, centered on our large swimming pool and the many species of palm trees and other tropical plants encircling it.
This rental apartment is private, complete with a separate entrance and dedicated parking. It adjoins the owner and host living area, which is also private and separate, under the same roof. The space is a beautiful contemporary and open layout. There are granite countertops & stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen. Throughout the home, there are hardwood floors as well as mosaic-tile flooring in the bathroom. The lanai and hot tub area is tiled with travertine pavers.
For everyone's privacy, this two bedroom one bath rental unit is separated from the owner host's living space by a set of French doors. These sound-dampening doors lock securely on both the owner & guest sides.
The backyard features a secluded heated pool surrounded by lush green palms and tropical trees, colorful flowers & a myriad of other plants. Travertine pool decking completely encircles the pool which includes an outdoor dining area with sun loungers. A covered lanai including an outdoor seating area and a four-person hot tub is attached to the house.
The pool is heated for year-round enjoyment. Water temperature is permanently set to a minimum of 83 degrees.
Stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, 12 cup drip coffee maker & Keurig machine, toaster, and microwave. This large kitchen comes with basic pots and pans, dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, and cooking utensils.
Standard size fabric covered sofa & matching ottoman, leather armchair, and wall-mounted Roku TV with streaming services available for subscribers.
1st Bedroom - Includes queen size bed, 32” wall-mounted TV with RoKu (streaming services available for subscribers) and a modern-style shelf for storage. This room also includes a standard-sized closet.
2nd Bedroom - Renovated in January of 2025. This room is located next door to the 1st bedroom. The completed renovation of the room includes a queen size bed, 43" Roku TV, dresser for storage, and a dedicated workspace for laptops complete with a full-sized monitor & printer. The closet in this room is reserved for owner use only.

La Joya Tropical Oasis is located in the South Middle River neighborhood of central Fort Lauderdale. Our neighborhood is locally famous for the wild peafowl that roam our streets and urban forests. South Middle River is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood comprised of long-time South Florida residents, members of the LBGTQ community, out of state transplants to Florida, as well as first-generation immigrants from the Caribbean and beyond. La Joya is within biking distance to all the shops, restaurants and nightlife found along "The Drive" in Wilton Manors. A walk to Wilton Manors would take approximately 30 minutes.
Guests can take advantage of La Joya's central location. The azure blue waters of our world-class beaches can be found approximately 4 miles to the east. Interstate 95 lies roughly 2 miles to the west. Wilton Manors is approximately 1.5 miles to the northeast. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Int'l Airport (FLL) is approximately 20 minutes south and Brightline's high-speed train station for downtown Fort Lauderdale is located about 2 miles to the south. Side note - Brightline is an excellent way to travel between the downtowns of Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Miami. The new Brightline extension also connects metropolitan South Florida to the Orlando area.
The property enjoys an excellent location between the beaches to the east and I-95 to the west. Wilton Manors is within walking distance and an easy bike ride away, approximately 1.5 miles to the east. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Int'l Airport (FLL) is approximately 20 minutes south of the property. Brightline high-speed train station for Fort Lauderdale is located approximately 2 miles to the south.
Guests will have full private access to this 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment which includes a kitchen, living room, dining room, and full bathroom. Shared access of the backyard, pool, enclosed lanai and hot tub is also included with this rental.
We have two small mixed-breed dogs. Guests might encounter the dogs while outside in a common area. Our dogs are never allowed to roam freely nor enter the private guest apartment.
Your privacy is always a top priority while maintaining the grounds of a 5-star property. To those ends, the owner / host is on-site in an adjoining living area which utilizes a separate entrance thru the courtyard & via the east gate on the property. The eastern edge of the property between the house and fence as well as the southernmost portions of the lot are reserved for owner / host use and for routine maintenance operations. These areas are separated from the house and pool area by bamboo privacy fencing.
Upon initial arrival, we strive to welcome our guests personally whenever possible. We understand this is not always feasible so we also offer self check-in under those circumstances. Based on our past experience, taking the time to personally greet our guests seems to work best to answer questions, accommodate special needs, or address any requests.
We have 2 small mixed-breed dogs. When outside, guests may briefly encounter them in a common area. The dogs are never allowed to roam freely nor are they ever allowed to enter the private guest apartment.
Early Check-In/Late Check-Out:
We are happy to accommodate early arrivals and late departures when we can, however, we cannot grant them earlier than 24 hours in advance because they are based on availability, and if another guest is checking out or in on that same day. Early Check-In/Late Check-Out are subject to additional fees.
Charging Electric Vehicles (EV Charger):
We offer a level-two electric vehicle charging station which is located on the right-hand side of the driveway. You will need an adapter to charge a Tesla. If you wish to utilize the charger, it must be done between the hours of 9:00pm and 7:00am ONLY. There is an additional charge of $20 per night for guests who wish to use the charger.
Cancellation/Refund Policies:
We always uphold our cancellation policies as we incur costs regardless of if a guest shows up or not. This is why we have our cancellation policy as it is shown on the listing. Whenever we travel, we always opt for travel insurance. We suggest travel insurance from either the booking platform or externally so neither of us have to worry if anything disrupts your trip.
Other Requirements:
For compliance with state and local regulations, a valid photo ID must be presented at check-in and an external rental agreement will need to be signed after booking.
